a busy week!

August 19, 2010

Monday was Meet the Teacher Day at the kids’ school. Harper chose her own outfit (of course) and her favorite new accessories are the cowboy hat and boots from Uncle Mark. Thank you, Uncle Mark!

Cole’s first day of 2nd grade was on Tuesday. His teacher is lovely and sweet and I think it’s going to be a good year!

Here’s my handsome boy on his 2nd day of 2nd grade (a little more casual on day two)…

…which also happened to be Harper’s very first day of Kindergarten! She was excited and nervous all in one, as you can probably tell by the photos.

She rode home on the school bus, which was extremely exciting for her, and announced, “I had a very good day, Mommy!”

The kids were supposed to have Christmas performances & parties today but instead we woke up to a snow day!

2Harper is much happier about the snow than she has been in the past. (Her hat must have fallen off in all the joyful jumping…)

snowball fightCole & Mark had a snowball fight…

snowman…and Harper built a snowman whose name, coincidentally, is also Harper.

Typically our snow is short-lived but it’s still. snowing. outside. This rarely happens, so I guess we’ll just enjoy it while it lasts!

Cole’s 7th birthday

November 7, 2009

cupcakes by Tiffany's Baking CoCole turned 7 on Thursday! (These cute little sprinkled things are from Tiffany’s Baking Co.)

021Here he’s looking appropriately cheesy before school…

031…after school he had a “treasure hunt” and searched for his birthday presents (while dressed appropriately as a pirate, complete with earring.)

041His present from us? A new bike (it seems to be the year of bikes.)

051Cupcakes for dinner! I can’t believe he’s 7!

At the Biltmore Estate

November 4, 2009

Christmas trees at BiltmoreThe kids had a day off from school last week so they decided they’d like to visit the Biltmore Estate. Though the main reason we went was to see some fall color we happened to visit on a day when preparations for Christmas at Biltmore were in full swing. (They’re stringing lights on the tree here.)

02Once we entered the house we were delighted to discover decorated Christmas trees already up and glowing in each room (except for the banquet hall tree, which goes up this week.)

04Here’s the Fall we were looking for! After driving through the walled gardens we noticed these beautiful trees near the pond.
