Welcome!

Hello! I'm Joanna, author of this photo journal. My husband, Mark, and I are professional photographers in Asheville, North Carolina. The name of our company, Tuesday's Frog, is based on an almost-wordless children's book about mischievous frogs that go flying on lily pads one night. We love this book because the illustrations are truly the heart of the story. Speaking of mischievous, Cole & Harper are our children, and frequent, though not always willing, photography subjects. Here you'll find not only the stories of our everyday lives, but of those we've photographed in our capacity as professional photographers as well. pink & blue, I love you | an Asheville engagement session

Chris & Jennifer will be married exactly 2 months from today! I sort of wigged them out by thinking their wedding was only one month away and mentioning that, and they were both like, "No, no, not yet! We need more time!"


They're ready, of course, to be together -- the more time is just for the planning...but honestly, I think they pretty much have it under control and we can't wait for their beautiful day!


Speaking of beautiful days, we picked a good one this last Saturday (thankfully, since Sunday was snowy, windy, and cold!) Sigh...love is pretty.

Ryan & Sarah | Engaged!









When Sarah moved to Winston-Salem to begin her residency friends told her that it was unlikely she'd meet a guy in her new hometown. Well, it's a good thing they were wrong! Ryan & Sarah will be married by the lake in October of this year. They were kind enough to travel to Asheville for Ryan's birthday this weekend so we spent some time with them in the wide open spaces of the NC Arboretum on Saturday. It was such a relaxed, calm, happy day -- very similar in spirits to this sweet couple.

Caroline & Tim | Engaged!
In the early days of their relationship, while Tim was still pondering whether or not to bring up the subject of "their relationship" to Caroline, she surprised him by admitting that she liked him and asking him out! Something tells me that Tim likes an assertive woman! They've been going strong since then -- 18 months and counting. Soon to be married in May, they took time out from their hectic schedules to wander around downtown Asheville with us on a slightly colder-than-normal Saturday (the temperature dropped 20 degrees from the previous day.)

Tim said the photography shoot was "painless," which is what we like to hear. We enjoy engagement sessions because they help us all get to know each other and they're just plain fun. Tim & Caroline's session lasted about 1.5 hours and we even managed to ply them with coffee and dessert...so it can't be all that bad, can it?

Hayes & Mike
I might be biased but I'm pretty sure we get to work with the best brides and grooms-to-be this year! Collectively, they are a laid-back, fun-loving, and comfortable bunch (and good sports about sticking their feet in freezing water, which always helps!) Yesterday we met Hayes & Mike for an engagement session in Pisgah Forest. Waterfalls hold a special place in their hearts (they were engaged in front of one) so we started at Looking Glass Falls....

They brought along a special friend...

Then we wandered away from the crowd to quieter waters...
...and took a few shots with the Clemson hat...


...and chilled their hands underwater a bit for a sparkly ring shot.
Thank you, Hayes and Mike (and Riley) for a wonderful time!
We're looking forward to your wedding in July!

Nikki & John
Yesterday we traveled to the North Carolina/South Carolina border to shoot an engagement session with Nikki and John, who are getting married in Highlands in August. Their photos were taken at Pretty Place chapel at Camp Greenville, overlooking the mountains.
